48 YEAR-OLD FIT KANE PADDLER LOOKING FOR A TEAM, IRON OR CHANGE

Aloha,

My name is Nate Day, and I am hoping to hook up with a team for this year's Queen's Race (men's or mixed, open or age group specific, prefer iron for this length of race but change also okay). Can sit any seat and am also the primary men's steersman for my crew at home. I'm 48, and in pretty good shape for a schoolteacher with two kids (27:31 OC1 5k personal best on flat water). 20+ years of paddling, learned in Honolulu from Uncle Charlie Kamai and Ash DeLima back in 2000 (States, Novice B's). I'm training and coaching at Washington Canoe Club in Washington, DC, but for an east coast mainlander have significant open water and Pacific experience: Blackburn Challenge (20+ mile iron) -- 5th place surf ski 2023; Catalina Crossing -- multiple podiums in the spec division pre-pandemic (both paddling and steering); Moloka'i Hoe 2013; Pailolo (steering) -- 3rd place men's open spec iron 2018. I'm 5'10", 170', and eager to paddle my butt off with similarly motivated teammates! Email: nathan.a.day@gmail.com; phone/text: 608 217-8534
